The DHSc degree program provides a path for individuals interested in advancing their career in health care management/administration, clinical and academic , research, community and public health, and higher education. The DHSc program includes 42 credit hours of intensive study, with a selected concentration in health administration, community and public health, or higher education. The culmination of the program is a 9-credit applied scholarly capstone project which is completed across three 3-credit courses. By combining coursework with the capstone, the graduate will be well positioned to take on leadership responsibilities within the healthcare system, public health system and institutes of  higher education. Typical DHSc graduates hold positions such as medical service managers, health service managers, university faculty, public health officers and managers, clinical research administrators, or healthcare delivery administrators.

DHSc (42 credits required)


DHSc Concentrations (12 credits required):


MSHS / DHSc Dual Degree students must complete one of the following 12 credit concentrations:

  • Community and Public Health Concentration
    or
  • Education Concentration
     

DHSc students must complete one of the following 12 credit concentrations:

  • Administration Concentration
  • Community and Public Health Concentration
    or
  • Education Concentration

MSHS / DHSc Dual Degree and DHSc Graduation Requirements


Students enrolled in the MSHS / DHSc Dual-Track Degree program or the DHSc program must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA at all times and will be placed on academic probation if their GPA falls below 3.0. Students who are unable to raise their cumulative GPA to 3.0 at the end of the probation semester or who fall below a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for a second time will be dismissed from the program.

The culminating project for the program is a 9-credit, applied scholarly capstone that students will complete sequentially over three semesters. A grade of “P” must be achieved in each capstone course in order to progress in the program. If more time is needed to complete their capstone project, students may petition to be given additional semesters to complete their capstone project.
